I've been using Unifi Video at home for a few years. I have six cameras and run software all the time on a PC running Windows 10. This machine (AMD Ryzen processor) consumes around 30W of power. The new cloud dongle draws about 10 watts and is powered by my POE switch, which also powers the cameras and access points. I first tried using a backup of my Unifi and Unifi video settings to import all settings and devices into a new cloud key. After several attempts I couldn't get this to work. I ended up setting up Unifi first. I went into my existing PC setup and forgot the devices one by one and then connected them to the cloud key one by one. It worked, and it probably took a little under an hour for all four APs to be accepted and configured, no big deal. forget each and turn off the computer. It worked and probably took another hour or so to kick off. Starting with brand new and previously unaccepted hardware, setting up a cloud key would be easy. It runs quietly and only heats up a little (mine is on the concrete floor in the basement). The performance of the Unifi Protect app on my Android phone is great and the new way Unifi Protect works by recording everything and logging events works well. It's easy to scroll through the video and see what happened.
