Got this to help my dog "remember" how to use puppy mats on the porch/balcony. He's 16 now and we haven't lived in a house with a porch for a long time. We lived in houses where he could go straight to the street. So we are on the second floor. Not too much of an inconvenience, but sometimes it's nice when he can go out on the porch. He didn't do it on the outside pads. A few years ago (about 7) we lived in an apartment with Lanai and he used pads regularly, but that was a long time ago. We moved into this apartment in October 2020. I tried the pads, nothing, he just laid on them. I ordered these grass patches in December and thought they would mimic grass! I even went outside like crazy and put it under him when he was peeing so he had fish on him! I put them on the porch with a puppy mat underneath because I understand they are ***non-absorbent***. You should have something underneath, ideally a puppy pad/urine pad/shisha pad/whatever you want to call it. This makes cleaning a lot easier, because it doesn't suck in and it shouldn't be :)! After several weeks of hard training, he tried it ONCE in January. I was so happy, but then he never did it again. I gave up. Then recently (now October 2021! Almost a year since I bought the product!) he seemed to need to run more often. He can usually hold it for a LONG time and in our training periods (back in December/January) I was really pushing the limit and he didn't want to continue. I mean it was 5:30pm and he hadn't walked since yesterday and he had NOT peed on that thing; I had to get him on the right grass. So recently I brought it back with a hopeful feeling. I had one rolled up in a garbage bag in the puppy bed underneath, tucked away on the porch. Side note: my package had 2. It looks like things are different now and you get 1 per order but I'm not sure. Anyway, I didn't touch the second one. I can happily report that he used this thing TWICE the last morning I could tell he had to leave. I was shocked! I was shocked! I was also curious, because sometimes I just need a little more time in the morning. I don't have much experience with this, but I take it inside (in a garbage bag) and wash it in a tub with some kind of detergent. Most of the hookah went on the pillow I placed underneath. I would never wash it in the washing machine. I think it's best to rinse it out and dry it in the sun every few times. It's a random thing for us, but I'd like to get to the point where I can leave the patio door open a bit and he can come out if he needs to. That's how it was in our old apartment (7-8 years ago!). So I think old dogs can learn tricks again. Overall excellent value for money. The product is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Good luck to those who try!
