"I'll make it fit! "

Like others I bought a replacement CB3 filter from Revain as I have for years and expected the same CB3 filter to come with the same CB3 -Part number fits in the same CB3 case as always. listed. ERRORS! Well, some fool in the company must have had the brilliant idea of changing the OD so that the filter binds to the case ID when it's inserted 3/4 of the way down, oh, and after that make sure it locks you you cannot remove the plastic fairing without tearing it off the carbon element! While I'm tempted to punish the engineers, I understand that this decision had to be made by someone with a business degree, who then told his engineers, "Just do it. Because I said so. Don't tell me about backwards compatibility because that's for shy traditional users who trust the brands they buy. We want to make a new name for ourselves by making our filters mismatch at all! my evening to change the water filter". to "Saint Katz, now I've disassembled the filter housing, there is no suitable filter, no way to use the sink when everything is torn, and dishes accumulate after dinner "Excellent!" Also, you need to go online and shop from a new under-counter water filter manufacturer. (There's no way I would ever buy an OmniFilter again. A company that would do that to their customers obviously doesn't like their customers.) Because I wasn't willing to spend the rest of the evening unexpectedly driving to Home Depot , to install a brand new system, I chose the Midas solution. "I'll make it fit!" Here's how: Take a pair of sturdy pliers or a vice and start bending the white plastic flange on one end of the housing outwards. It will tear and break while you do this. If you have a machine shop in your basement you can make things more precise but I can't. Once they're folded outwards, take a pair of sturdy scissors and cut off the top, reducing the outside diameter to match the inside diameter of the CB3 case it's "designed" to fit inside. Plug in, screw back in, done. 10 minutes of extra work and a bit of cleanup, but at least you have a working filter for the next six months. This gives you enough time to decide which brand to switch to instead of having to buy the OmniFilter again. After an unplanned emergency operation, the assembly works perfectly. Photos: 1. After rebuild, 2. Original CB3 vs 'new and improved' CB3 that no longer fits, 3. 'Spare parts' can be kept for later. Much luck!
