My first Oxo kitchen scale finally broke after years of daily use and spilled coffee grounds, egg whites and various foods. I was happy to find the same model still in stock. Please understand that this is a kitchen scale, not a scientific scale, not a powder scale, not a fraction scale. Accuracy is around one gram, but fractional grams appear to round up and down and may vary slightly at times. It's still close enough for cooking. It is very sensitive to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and may only need a small amount of shielding in the circuit. EMI can cause numbers to jump across the display. Fluorescent lamps trigger these and other electronics. Noticing this happening as it was sitting next to my old microwave I realized the seals had been removed from the microwave and scale and I was bombarded with leaking microwaves. Needless to say I replaced the microwave and the problems with the scale display have stopped. Made me think that this scale is actually a pretty good short range EMI detector. They work great as a scale. I started using it to help with my diet, now I only use it daily to measure ingredients for recipes. The retractable display is a very useful feature that allows me to see the weight of an item even if it's on a large plate or bowl. Batteries last a long time and are easy to replace. It can be wiped off easily, but cannot be submerged in water. It takes six minutes to shut down when not in use, enough time even for me. (I'm slow.) Overall, I recommend this model.
