Review on πŸšͺ Carlson Extra Wide Walk Through Pet Gate: Small Pet Door, Extension Kit, Pressure/Wall Mount Kits by Robert Trevino

Ignore the reviews "the gate is bent "

I don't normally write reviews but due to some negative reviews of this gate I feel it is necessary to write. "Bent" Ratings: One of the biggest complaints I've seen with these gates is that they are "bent". There's a reason for this, compression. In order for the gate to stay in place without drilling and permanent fixings, it must be compressed. If the gate didn't curve outward, you wouldn't be able to get it to stay in the open space you want. Once the gate is in place, use the included hardware to tighten it just enough so the "curved" parts are now square. If done correctly, the door will not jam, but will open and close as intended. Pet Door: I wasn't aware of this when I bought the gate, but the pet door swings to either side, which is pretty cute. The only thing about the pet door is that the pet door will swing freely if the gate is not level. We have two cats, one is about 8 pounds and the other about 20 pounds (he is on a diet now). A 20 lb cat can go through this door very easily, the opening is perfect. Enhancements: The enhancements for this gate are pretty good. It comes in two different sizes that fit either end of the gate. In the opening where we have a goal, we just needed a bigger extension. For us this gate only stays in place when compressed, we didn't screw the pieces into the wall to hold it. We have a 70 lb golden retriever that the gate won't let the cats in. If you push hard on the gate it will move naturally, but if you use the included hardware this will not happen. We don't need to worry about that because the dog won't push open the gate. We are very happy with the gate, especially for $25. The only thing I would change if I could is the actual opening of the gate. That's a little less than I'd like, but not enough to dock a star or even half a star. If you know what you're doing or have a bit of common sense, you will most likely agree that this is a big goal.
