Recently my vintage 1992 Sony STR-D595 receiver stopped blinking. So I was willing to replace it with something as modern as possible (without breaking the bank). The STR-DE695 definitely offers 6.1ch and HD pass component video capabilities. I only have two real complaints about this receiver. The AM radio part lacks real sensibility. Only the strongest stations will get through, and that's assuming you have a decent antenna. (Unfortunately, this is a common problem with many lower-end receivers.) If you live in a rural area and depend on good AM reception, this receiver isn't for you. Other user manual.
