I've known Roku since it was released! Back then, the internet wasn't what it is today. There are so many ways to cut the cord and start streaming fresh free content. It wasn't hard to convince my 80 year old father to stop paying the cable company $212 a month! Ouch! I've found that by tying alternative cables I can still cut my bill by about 50%! As? Well, I recommend that you decide which channels you really need and watch. Depending on your family size, you can either split the monthly service cost into premium streams or let people get their own subscriptions. For example, only my stepdad watches ESPN, and he can get ESPN 1, 2, and 3 for $30 a month by subscribing to SLING's Orange plan. He can watch all his classic western movies and TV shows on free channels. My mom and I split the cost of FUBOTV (106 channels, 130+ events in 4K) which gives access to many sports channels and the NFL/NBA for over $59 a month. Also, we share the internet, which costs $40 per month. For my family, the average monthly cost per person is $55, excluding individual apps like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+. Again, each person can pay for their own additional services. Even if you have a family of one, your cost before taxes and premium subscriptions should average $20 to $130. Wait! The? 20 dollars? As? PHILO TV has 58 channels, no sports for $20 a month! Their channel offering includes AMC, A&E, Lifetime and more! Long story short, you can pay as little as $20 for a cable alternative and then subscribe to individual premium apps like Prime Video ($119 a year with many other benefits) via a Revain Prime subscription (I'm not a fan of Revain connected). . For the remote control, I switched to Premiere+ because of the TV control and voice control. My 83-year-old mother finds Roku easier to use with these features. She is not tech savvy.
