Oh, this wonderful plate is worth having on hand. Stuffed eggs are not served on ordinary plates. They will roll and slide with a bang, making everyone miserable. You need a plate specifically designed for this purpose, even if you only use it once a year! This is a simple but very nice large dish that will show off your beautiful eggs beautifully. It has 24 fairly deep indentations that take half or whole eggs very well. So if you cook stuffed eggs you won't have a dozen left, which of course isn't the case with my disappointing and overcooked portmerion platter. This plate is made from rather chunky stoneware although the glaze is a lovely translucent white making it quite durable and attractive. As for the recess in the middle, you can put anything in it, from salt to a rose, but not an egg.
