Works out of the box, solid build quality and definitely mechanical! (5 months later, battery defective)

later Since my first keyboard was one of the old IBM mechanical keyboards that were passed down to me as a kid, it definitely has a similar feel and sound when I'm typing this. I order this with brown switches. If you're expecting this to be used for portability, it's technically small enough to carry around. However, any mechanical keyboard you buy will be heavy! This keyboard is no exception, and you probably won't want to use it in public places like Starbucks. That CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK sound when typing will definitely annoy the people sitting around you! So far I've used this keyboard for 4 hours with the included charger and my first impressions of using this keyboard are just childhood nostalgia! The keyboard is very responsive. Even after switching from a completely different keyboard, I'm still typing between 60 and 70 words per minute without noticing a slowdown. The layout seems a bit more compact compared to the previous keyboard I've been using for the past 3 months, making key movement the only learning curve I've struggled with for the past few hours, but it's a standard layout without major deviations . So switching to this keyboard should be comfortable to use for around 30 minutes. I really like that it has arrow keys and system keys to insert, delete, return to home page, page up/down, print screen, scroll lock and so on. This makes the key still useful for DevOps work, Linux system administration tasks and programming. It's a fair compromise between portability and maximum functionality. Lighting. You have a reasonable number of mode selection options. I believe there are many people who appreciate it, but I don't care about the backlight. It's useless in my opinion, but if RGB lighting is important to you, you'll probably like the built-in modes available. With that in mind, I don't know how modifiable RGB highlights are. Action keys are the keys that require you to hold down the FN key to use them. I mainly use the volume keys and it's great to have them on this keyboard. Currently. I have a feeling those volume buttons are in the wrong order, but having them at all is better than not having them. There is also a key to open My Computer and the Calculator app, which are extremely useful to me. They've also stuffed a context menu button into the board, which I use regularly. ------------------------------- --- --- To recap (TLDR): My first experience with this keyboard were overwhelmingly positive. They've managed to create a fairly "portable" mechanical keyboard that retains many of the features I need for everyday tasks. I'll follow up later to update this with more thoughts on battery life and any issues I'm running into. --- ---------------------------------- Update (in 1 week) - Battery life: Very good found heavy to determine exactly how "new" the battery life of this keyboard is. After using it as my main driver last week, it took me a few days to really drain it to death. I often don't want to keep track. When the battery died I was very happy to learn that this keyboard supports input via the included USB-C cable! This means you can still use this keyboard with a wired connection if the battery ever runs out (which it will one day). ------- -------------- ---Update (in 5 months) - downgraded to 3 stars. I've had this keyboard for over 5 months now and I stopped using it as a daily driver after encountering a two aspect issue. About 2 months ago the battery couldn't hold a charge for more than an hour of continuous use. Previously, he held the charge much longer. From what I've experienced, there's no reason for lithium-ion batteries to reduce their ability to hold a charge. However, everything would be fine if I didn't encounter the second problem. About a month ago I found that the keyboard was not working after restarting my PC. I used it with the USB cable that came with the keyboard. It shouldn't be a thing. After some troubleshooting, I found that this issue only occurs if the keyboard battery is completely drained when the PC boots up. The main advantage of this keyboard is that it is wireless and has the main component (battery). Getting significantly worse in less than a year is a big problem.

Pros
  • Battery capacity 1850 mAh. This mechanical wireless keyboard lasts a week, up to 100 hours of standby time with the backlight off, and only needs 3-4 hours to fully charge.
Cons
  • I'll add
