The advice to go down a size is good for a tummy tuck. Mid-chest and above I would say go for a normal size. The reason is the slit on these armhole shirts. Didn't fit as shown. The holes go way down and therefore provide very little support or compression to the upper chest. If, like me, you buy a size down, the upper bust tends to pop out of the armholes if even slightly out of shape. I would suggest altering the design to cover the hand holes a bit. I would buy again. Yes, it's nice for everyday use. For intentional compression, no. The gap at the top is just too big.
