I really like this broom. I bought it to remove the solution in my shower. I haven't read the instructions. I just started cleaning. When the rod lock handle is down, it will not move up or down. You need to open it with the handle pointing away from the pole of the card. You can then adjust the size up or down and when you close the handle where the lever is perpendicular to the mop handle it locks into place! In length from 37 inches to 51 inches. I thought it would be a great tool for cleaning grout as it has a strong aluminum shaft and the head or cleaning part can be unscrewed and used as a hand brush and then re-attached to the handle to become a cleaning brush, broom or mop . In my opinion, the bristles are made of durable plastic, very prickly, well suited for grouting and cleaning. I didn't even know it had a mop on the other end when I bought it, but after figuring it out it's nice to know that I now also have a mop on the other end of my broom when cleaning my tub Laundry.
