Price/Quality/Ease of Use/Issues

First of all I don't write reviews but I think it's important when talking about item #350. This review is for an 8-channel, 4-camera DVR. Item received quickly and well packaged, everything you need is included except an extension cord for power supplies, except if you plan to plug your cameras outside where anyone can plug them in, I think it would be helpful to add some extension cords or at propose at least one option. Installing the system was as easy as downloading the app. Getting the cameras to work properly is another story. I shut down my system yesterday afternoon and since the cameras went completely offline on two separate occasions it only took a reboot twice to bring them back up. The cameras rely entirely on the NVR, so the chaos started when I installed the second and third cameras, such as the cameras, think of the furthest camera I have. is less than 50 feet away. The Ismkit app used with this system is annoying, sends a motion alert, takes you to the events list, doesn't show what's happening live, or play the recorded event. You have to go to play and find the event even by time The app is very slow no matter you are using wifi or cellular. There is no contact information on the box and manual so the company doesn't seem to have a website for a seller who offers lifetime support and a 2 year warranty. The manual mentions that the warranty does not apply to items purchased longer than 12 months, although the listing states a 2 year warranty. The listing states that this camera will record video and audio, and nothing in the listing mentions the need for additional hardware, but that's not true. I tried 3 out of 4 cameras, no sound was received. You still have to play with the display, color, recording method and other settings for the system to work properly, so it's not really plug and play. Only the WLAN connection between the devices is pre-installed. The system can work with an existing alarm system, but it seems to require an RF module or detector, which I couldn't find anything about in the online manual or listing. Image quality is decent. Most likely, this system will return. This review is designed to save people the headache of buying and returning, at least you know exactly what you're getting.

Pros
  • Ease of Setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
