Gloves definitely protect my hands well from the heat of hot items straight from the oven or microwave. In addition, they offer a good non-slip grip that hot pads do not offer. The "medium" size is actually small/medium as stated on the gloves. They fit my wife's hand perfectly, but are a little tight on me. It's ok for me, it just takes a little more effort to put them on. I prefer it too big and loose. hp My wife loves the gloves and wishes she had bought them years ago!
