It's simple for use with any programming language like C/C++ or Python. The documentation is really good as well! I've used it in many projects over my career so far without having problems at all. We're using ffmpgextract tool which gives us access to various metadata from videos such as title, artist etc. This helps when we need them later down the line while processing other media files (e.g., images). FFmpeg is very easy to use, it is not very easy to use for a newbie. I recommend getting some basic knowledge of terminal commands and the ffmpeg syntax. I use ffmpeg to convert videos and audio files, I use it to convert videos from one format to another and I use it to encode videos with different audio tracks. I use it to broadcast live video streams.
