I bit the bullet and paid $200 for a Mitutoyo 500-753-20 caliper. However, prior to purchasing Mitutoyo, I paid $25 for a cheap digital caliper that cannot reliably replicate the measurement. It had a "feature" that the battery cover fell off almost every time I picked it up. Mitutoyo is undoubtedly an expensive tool, but its construction is solid and its measurements are accurate. Save $25 and get Mitutoyo. .
