Review on ๐ŸŽถ JICO VN-35HE Stylus: A High-quality Replacement for Shure VN35HE by Ron Patel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great presence and soundstage

I've had a Shure V15 III for a few years but it never impressed me, despite spending good money on a JICO VN35HE needle. Obviously it was fake because when I installed this new pen it was a complete revelation. I played Berlioz's Fantastic Symphony from a 35mm Everest recording on a Pioneer PL 540 and the bass on the drum roll was superb, reaching well beyond any other pickup. The sound stage outshone all other pickup combinations (M95ED, M97xE, Denon DL 110, Grado Blue, Empire 3000 III and Stanton 681 with VL needle). Will be buying a backup soon just in case this V15 III gets some serious playtime. By the way, M97xE took second place. I know the Pioneer pointer is medium weight, but I haven't encountered any problems, although the first time I used it I thought the cartridge/stylus deserved a better grip. Luckily I'm converting Thorens TD125 with SME 3009 Type II Improved and Thorens TD 125 Mk II with SME Series III. This allows for a more thorough comparison of Shure, including the Shure V15 VXmR with the JICO SAS stylus.
