Large size was perfect for my 50lb Pitbull/Pharaoh mix dog. He hates the water and initially wasn't wearing a jacket (hence the look on his face in the photo where I'm taking his hand). I think after wearing it for a while he got used to it and I think it gave him more confidence in the water because he felt confident in everything! I am a proud mother of a puppy. The material seems relatively durable (only used twice) and the orange really stands out against the water. The lower part of the belly is fastened with a long, thick Velcro strap, followed by two straps with plastic snaps. The front wraps around the chest, wraps around the neck with Velcro and a strap with plastic closure. He will not fall. The top handle will probably break eventually (I mean, it weighs 50 pounds and I lift it to move around a lot haha). There is also a plastic part on the top where you can attach a leash, which is very convenient.
