How [*my wife*] uses it (from her perspective): I have very flat, penetrating feet to the point where I need special insoles and a corset for all waking moments until I do am capable of reconstructive surgery. I've been wearing this brace for a little over 4 months and will need to wear it for another 6 months. I lead an active lifestyle, but due to a flatfoot injury, my exercise is very limited. supportive. The compression feels good. The stirrup leather does a good job of keeping my ankle from over-rotating (still a bit of movement but nothing compared to what it was). Personally, I'm not very comfortable without shoes, but it's great with tennis shoes. I live in Michigan and this brace goes well in tennis shoes and decently in boots. (I haven't tried other shoes so can't comment on that.) Stirrup loops are very useful. This brace helped reduce swelling and relieve pain from my injury. I rarely have pain when wearing this orthosis. Cons: My biggest complaint is the rough side of the Velcro - there's no easy way to remove the lint and hair stuck in it. The velcro on the compression part rubs against my shoes. Three days after I got my new sneakers, there was already a hole on them. I tried wrapping it at different angles by moving the stirrup leather but nothing helped. The right angles at the top of the stirrup leathers keep hitting my pants as I move and then they pop out and I have to stop. and adjust. My job requires me to move around a lot, which is uncomfortable and annoying. I rolled up my sock at the top to help, but I don't want my socks to stretch. Maybe if the company wants to consider some sort of bushing around the top of the strut? (but one detail - no velcro)
