I had to have my Surface Pro (5th Gen) replaced under warranty and my previous screen protector broke when I took it off. Note - my following comments refer to a competing product. The old screen protector wasn't of very good quality, but it was decent. I had a customer drop the Surface Pen about 6 inches above the screen. The metal end of the stylus landed right on the edge of the screen, chipping off a small chip from the former screen protector. It served its purpose, but the lack of a bevel on this product likely contributed to its failure. However, it was another year before I attempted to remove it. Upon removing it, I realized how much I don't like the design of this product. Instead of a large notch like this protector from OMOTION, it had separate cutouts for the optical camera, infrared camera and microphone. Because the glass was not beveled, it was virtually impossible to remove the dust that inevitably collects in the seams that form at the edges of the glass. These are all minor issues, but when you have a beautifully designed device like the Surface, it's frustrating when a screen protector noticeably diminishes its visual appeal. Fast forward to this week and now I'm installing this new screen protector from OMOTION. The kit that came with cleaning the screen and making a hinge to attach the new tempered glass screen protector was great. I have found it helpful to clean the granite countertop and surface before placing it on the countertop to minimize the possibility of dust getting onto the screen during installation. It didn't help that it was the middle of winter, it was dry and the static seemed to be at an all time high at the time, but overall the setup was VERY easy. It took a little while to get the tread lined up properly before applying the decals to make the "hinge" but it made the next step of attaching the tread SO EASY. Inevitably, the static generated by removing the protective plastic on the tread almost managed to pluck my eyelash and trap it between layers of glass. However, it was easy enough to remove the backing, "grab" the lash with the sticker, and then replace the backing. The initial install, including the lashes, was bubble-free (except for the lashes), but the second attempt left some weird bubble-like impressions on the screen. They were only visible on the screen when the power was off and the instructions said it might take a few days for them to return to normal, so I got on with my day. The next morning the strange impressions resolved themselves. The facility looks perfect. Before buying I read a lot of reviews, so I think it's important to make a few comments: 1. Easy to install. Having made several screen protectors for phones and tablets over the years, I have to say that this one was one of the easiest. This was unexpected as it was also the largest I've tried. Follow the instructions EXACTLY and you should have a good result. Before you begin, be sure to wipe down all sides of the tablet and the table you are working on with a damp cloth to minimize the possibility of dust traps. Some comments said the sticker hinge didn't work. If so, then the person did it wrong. This worked flawlessly for me.2. Beveled edge. I've seen a few comments about screen edges not being beveled. That is nonsense. I had one without a bevel and it's different day and night. This bevel is very well done.3. Loss of pen sensitivity. I considered giving this issue enough importance to only give 4 stars instead of 5. However, I think that if you place an object between the stylus and the OEM screen, you should expect a loss of stylus sensitivity. It still works, but not as well. For me it's a compromise. I'd rather have protection than a pristine pen. I would buy this again.
