Knitpicks vs Lykke

I'm knitting so much during this pandemic that I'm doing a lot of bigger projects like a cardigan or sweater. After seeing how many YouTubers used spare needles in their tutorial video, I ended up buying a cheap replacement needle set from Revain for $40 which was a huge mistake! I had to sand down the rough edge of the needle, I broke the 3mm needle so easily but I couldn't return it because I had already damaged it too much and thought I could still use it by sanding, taping and But later I needed to buy a set of short needles, so I bought a set of knitting needles and realized how good knitting needles can and should be! I fought garbage! So I started looking for the best regular tip sets. I've seen needle comparison videos on YouTube and found many people recommending Lykke for beginners and I bought both sets of regular knitting needles and Lykke at the same time to compare. I know I love jerseys but I loved Lykke too! So I decided to leave Lykke for a regular needle as I already have short needles. Knitpicks needles feel thicker with a lacquer finish, a bit like plastic. Still very soft and the colors are just beautiful to look at when knitting. You are also a big needle. Meanwhile Lykke feels like a more natural wood, very light, comfortable to knit with, feels so smooth and makes nice sounds when knitting. I'll admit that the dark gray colorway isn't the best choice for me, but it didn't bother me that much. In addition, the connection of the lykke cord is softer than knitted, which is very important. As in the picture I upload, for some reason Knitpicks needles have 2 holes in the metal part while Lykke has 1 and this sometimes prevents the thread from moving smoothly along the needle. Only Knitpicks line stopper (metal screw part) is definitely better than Lykke (plastic) but the two brands are compatible so I can use good ones! Lykke offers a variety of cord lengths so you can choose the right cord for each project and leave the cord with the stopper when working on different parts. No more hand hole threads! In addition, the Lykke needle case is very functional and spacious! Knitpicks come in a plastic bag which is good enough to use but never compares to the Lykke bag. I had them for almost half a year, I knitted 10 sweaters and 15 hats from these 2 sets, there was no damage. I am very happy with this combo and therefore recommend it to anyone looking for their first set of replacement needles. On the other hand, it seems like a good idea to have both regular and short Lykke branded tips. So Lykke, all you have to do to dominate them all is level up your Stopper part! Never waste money on cheaper junk like I did. If you love to knit, you will knit thousands of times and feel the difference in every stitch. I'm sure I'll be using them for a long time!
