This was my first epilator purchase and was recommended to me by a friend. The process itself plays no part in relation to pain. It doesn't hurt, it's pretty much what you would expect, a bit of tingling. I was initially very impressed and quickly learned to hold it (at a 90 degree angle to the skin and just slide over it while tugging at the skin). The problem with this model is that the motor is not very powerful. I can't even finish one leg as it starts hissing. I turn it off and it won't turn on until it rests or cools down. This isn't very practical if you want to kick with both feet at the same time. Another problem I've had, and maybe it's just my problem, is flat ingrown hairs. They look like normal hair but are actually under the skin. I didn't experience that before using the epilator. So if you're looking for your first epilator like me, I'd spend a few bucks more and go for the one with the best motor. I will search myself. I love epilators but not this one.
