I like that this is NOT a poppet valve. Almost all water filter/ice machine water line kits (including the one I ordered from Revain) include a poppet valve. So why buy another water valve? In fact, there are many good reasons. • In my case, I am a renter and would have to open the wall under the sink to access the copper plumbing since the cold water inlet valve is flush with the wall. • I felt uncomfortable. with the thought of drilling through the cold water pipe anyway. It only seems to cause water leaks/flooding and attendant water damage with possible mold/fungus requiring professional 'repair'. • What I didn't know is that if a zinc plated steel clamp and brass valve body is used together with a copper water pipe, a physico-chemical reaction called "electrolysis" will cause the copper water pipe to corrode due to a kind of "green cancer". Although If you didn't have a leak when you installed it, you're guaranteed a leak in the end!• I also didn't know that shutoff valves are against plumbing statutes in most states and that it will delay your build/renovation permit in most municipalities.
