Honestly, I really love how these shorts fit and are shaped. They are somewhat small but they do fit as expected especially after reading reviews about ordering a size up. I am normally around a size 6/7 in jeans, 5'6", and around 153 lbs so I ordered a large knowing that they might be a little tight in the waist, which they are, but I can't complain because the sizing chart was accurate. I would suggest measuring your waist and then ordering what the size chart tells you because, for me, it was accurate. However, for the shape of them if you want to know I have plenty of room in the thigh area and they fit perfectly in the butt lol (Ido have an apple shape though so I carry all of my weight in my stomach, or else they would fit perfectly, but if you are a pear shape or have a larger butt or thighs I would suggest taking that into consideration although the shorts have extra room in that area if you did). These shorts are super cute though and just what you would want appearance-wise in high wasted shorts. Also, I am losing weight or else I would definitely send them back and get an XL even if they might be too baggy in the thigh area then. Just make sure you read the measurements right for the waist are if you have pretty normal proportions and you should be fine!
