I have had plastic phone holders for a number of years. After losing my phone on a bike ride a few years ago, I got pretty paranoid about losing my phone. Since plastic gets pretty brittle over time, I've had to change mounts every few years to feel safe and not throw my expensive phone on the street. try it. For the money this seems like a pretty good investment. Although the phone holder doesn't swivel like a regular plastic holder, it does point in the desired direction. It is very durable, no bouncing like normal holder. The clamping mechanism is very simple, with a screw to tighten the phone. The only thing that I think could be changed is the screws themselves that hold the clamp and swivel. They used a security screw that required a special hex key with a hole drilled in it. I will probably change that. I also used a rubber sheet from another holder to hold the rim of the phone on the holder. It may be overkill, but no matter how much the phones cost, I don't want to risk it. That being said, I think I've finally found a mount that feels comfortable enough not to worry about losing my phone.
