A few years ago I purchased an aftermarket chrome shifter for my Harley Ultra Limited. It was $18 compared to $120 spent on a genuine Harley accessory. On a recent ride, I noticed a creaking noise coming from the shift area. When I inspected the joint, I found that the Heim pivots were worn out due to inferior parts. These were Heim's fugues, 8 m long, and it was impossible to find them on the spot. I have reviewed Harley parts (their accessories) which are around $40 each and come in a variety of sizes (3/8 - 24). I ordered them and was very happy with the quality and appearance. I had to drill and tap the actual linkage to get them to fit properly, but even with a drill and tap I still have less than $40 to tweak my Harley.
