Yes, normal grips will not fit.
As others have said, regular tapered grips from big stores won't fit. ARCH I thought I might find one. Now I have to switch grips. Don't worry, do it. But of course it would be nice if they made it so that you can use regular pens. Otherwise it's a GOOD scraper. will move a lot of material. The rubber is a little stiff, so if your floor has a lot of bumps it will have a hard time walking over it.
