I have decided to upgrade my home network to the Unifi system and purchase this access point as part of a kit. I also bought a Unifi USG and a Unifi PoE Switch. There are a few important points to note: 1. Although this can work with any network setup, it works best with a full Unifi2 environment. Unifi configuration usually requires the controller to work on your network. This can be a cloudkey that you buy separately, or an application that you run on a physical or virtual machine. It should work 24/7. It's incredibly flexible and powerful, which is good and bad. It's good if you have basic WiFi knowledge and want to optimize your environment. It's bad if you expect it to be plug and play with no settings.4. Unifi environments can be very advanced and I would advise you to start small as it is easy to overprovision and spend on your infrastructure. In my experience, this device worked flawlessly. It offers reliable WiFi throughout the house and even outside! I only have one of these at home and am happy. Your coverage will depend on the size of your home, wall materials, and potential interference, but I encourage you to think carefully and buy a smaller rig first, as you can always add more APs later. Finally, although this is meant for ceiling mounting, I put it on a bookshelf in the middle of my house and it works great.
