Review on ๐Ÿ”‹ Dyson Absolute Cordless Vacuum Cleaner: Unmatched Cleaning Power and Portability by John Ghattamaraju

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Am I crazy to pay so much for a vacuum cleaner?

I would like to give 4.5 stars but I can't. Now the reasons are very minor but I gave 5 stars instead of 4 because of this reason. The pistol grip is uncomfortable. I have big hands and it rubs a bit and because of the hard plastic it's not that comfortable. The dust collector scrapes most of the hair when handling pet hair. It actually scrapes all the hair out of the center when deflating, but the hair can still get stuck and you have to reach out and pull out. Again a very small problem. The doc is the most annoying. It doesn't contain all the attachments, so you'll need to save some of them. I don't understand how they went through so many changes and still not modify the dock to accommodate all the accessories. Okay now for use in the real dirty world. All cleanings were standard, I never used the maximum. I have a cleaner that works in my living room every day, usually twice a day. I have 1 Sheltie mix, another Sheltie/Pomeranian mix and 2 cats, so you can imagine I deal with a lot of wool. Two dogs still shed and can lose a lot of hair on my living room carpet in just a few hours from constant brushing. My first test was to walk on a carpet that had been cleaned by my master the night before. Carpet size 10x12. I didn't even realize until I was done that the entire trash can was almost full. I ran the mat 2 more times during the day and each time it still pulled the hair up and was at the maximum line both times. Remember this rug is short, it is not a plush rug at all. Now I get this from my Neato too. When my dogs have dandruff it can take 4 vacuums a day to clean up where you have little to no hair left. I intentionally didn't vacuum my computer room for 3 weeks. I wanted to put this through the torture test my $100 vacuum could handle. It's a small room, maybe an 8x6 area, that needs clearing. Let me tell you right away. It put my filthy devil to shame from the first pass. My dirty devil, who is only a little over a year old and very well-groomed, needs maybe 3-5 passes to remove hair from the carpet, which must have been lying here since the 50s. I had to empty the bin 4 times to clean this room and it was filled with dog hair from top to bottom. The cleaning time for this room was probably only about 3-4 minutes but you also have to factor in the time I had to clean. With that in mind, I have to say that the carpet turned out a lot better than it did with the mud devil, and I've found that the mud devil has worked well so far. And here's the amazing part. My Neato needs to clean the brushes about every 2-3 days when they are full. All this carpet cleaning with all this hair and when I was done I had to pull out 4 strands that had wrapped around the brush. It was very interesting to see how clean it stayed. Funny, I bought it less for cleaning carpets and more for cat litter that our cats keep throwing on the wooden floor. My vacuum was useless for kitty litter as it just threw it everywhere. Due to a stroke a few years ago, my mobility is restricted, so sweeping with a broom is very difficult for me. The fluffy head unit is an absolute find. He picked up this debris as if it were nothing but dust. All these videos I've seen about the V6 and V8 are so true that the furry head works amazingly. Although there are disadvantages. I had a few fibrous pieces of carpet that were lying on the floor that didn't end up in the trash but just wrapped around fluffy padding. Not much, but he seemed to do it all the time. What bothered me the most was that I paid over โ‚ฌ500 for a mite vacuum: a) do I have to be stupid and b) 25 minutes of work with the attachment? I must be really stupid! To my surprise, the combination of suction and nozzle makes the cleaning very fast. When I washed the carpet in the living room with my dirty devil, I moved slowly and easily managed to walk through it in 10 minutes. With V8. it takes about 3-4 minutes. About the same amount is needed for cleaning the computer room. Cleaning trays and corridors takes about 2 minutes, my kitchen takes about 2 minutes. About 2 minutes for the bedroom and 2 minutes for the office. Lots of energy left, about 13 minutes more if I have to clean spots here and there after the dogs, it could easily take me 15 minutes to clean just 2 rooms with a large vacuum cleaner. You have no idea how much time you spend fighting the cable trying to get it out of the way. The absence of a cord ensures 100% cleaning time (except when emptying the bin) and can significantly reduce cleaning time. Overall I am very happy with how it performs on both carpet and hard floor. It's very light and comfortable for me and much easier to maintain than my vertical. I have no idea how durable it will be, it will take time to find out. Let me say the same. I hate vacuuming so I bought a robot first, but with the V8 it wasn't a chore at all. No need to pull and reposition that cable every few passes, no weight at all. The V8 only weighs about 5 pounds and is very manoeuvrable and easy to transport. As for the volume, oh my god it's quiet! Compared to all my vacuums, this one is by far the quietest of them all. My dogs didn't even bark like they do when they start upright. I still think I'm crazy for spending that kind of money on a vacuum, but if it lasts me a few years it will be worth the investment. I think it could be a replacement for a full handheld vacuum? Yes, and here's why. You will use this more often. Instead of waiting a week to pull out a big vacuum, take it, work a few minutes here and there and you're done. You'll end up doing this more often because it's so convenient. I would put the V8 next to the dishwasher. A must have for anyone who hates doing precise housework. It just makes your life easier.
