When I put my wife's passport in for the first time, everything seemed perfect. It was a bit difficult to put in plastic envelopes but it held up well and didn't open the passport. It was only when I had to use it at the airport that I found out that security required you to remove your passport from this holder before showing it to them. When we tried to pull the passport out (and we were careful enough) the "seams" (where the plastic was fused to the outer shell) came loose easily as the entire one side was almost torn off. We couldn't go that half of the pass in that direction.
