Review on 8TB Seagate Backup Plus Hub Desktop Hard Drive with Data Recovery Services by Lee Hoon ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The quality is ok on the whole, it has some small flaws.

SeaTools for Windows native tests passed, including both the short and long generic hang tests, as well as the short drive self test. The evaluation in the Seagate Manager has been successfully completed; in this section, you can also adjust the parking time for the heads, which can be downloaded from the site. It is between 24 and 25 degrees Celsius in the room, the thermometer is standing vertically on the table, and there is nothing else in the vicinity. The temperature is 51 degrees Celsius. During operation, it produces a sound and there is a strong vibration every 5 seconds, giving the impression that something is stopping and starting up again, even though the disk itself does not stop. When the system is idle, the same garbage plays every ten to twenty seconds, which can be annoying. Now that the load has been applied, the temperature has increased to 53 degrees Celsius. Although thermal calibration can be accomplished through vibration, the fact that it is occurring at such a high temperature is peculiar. I examined a different external drive, a Toshiba Canvio Ready 1TB 2.5", and found that it also produces vibrations at roughly the same frequency and for the same length of time, but they are barely perceptible. I came to the conclusion after reading the forums that + - this may be the default state for their drives. A way to remove this I didn't find it, but if anyone finds it, let me know about it. About + - someone is doing well, and someone else will experience difficulties similar to mine. The fact that this cannot be the typical mode of operation makes it abundantly clear that both high temperature and vibration will have a detrimental effect on the service life of the component. I conducted some tests, and everything seems to be functioning normally on the surface; the number of garbage piles and parking lots does not increase very quickly, and the only criteria that it fails on is the temperature of use (HDDScan, HD Tune Pro). The rate of writing slows down by a factor of 2 times whenever there is vibration (resources monitor win7). To make a long story short, it was the second disk; the first one turned out to be flawed; the indicator light was on, but the disk did not spin, and the system did not recognize it. I'd like to say a few words about the support, or more accurately the lack of support, for those. In reference to Federal Law 242 (which governs the storage of personal information), they decline to engage in consultations of this nature, despite the fact that they are able to easily communicate with an anonymous user. The value of SMART AIDA64. 01/C3 (160204912/160204912) shifts in the plus or minus direction day to day. The values of 04 (184), 07 (1506910), and S0/S7 (2639/2715) are gradually going up. After writing a total of 1.5 terabytes and spending approximately four hours reading from the NTFS file system, I was able to obtain the values.

Pros
  • Large volume
Cons
  • heated Powerful vibrations and sound waves The support offered by those in 2022 is ineffective.
