A little big for skinny kids but great fit
I bought size 3 for my very small (39" and very skinny) 4 year old - it was too big so we ordered size 2 which should fits perfectly. I even ordered one for myself - boy size 12 (I'm a 5ft 105lb female) and it fits great.
