Looks awful at eye level or higher on the wall

The idea behind the floating shelf is NOT to see the mounting hardware. If you place it at eye level or higher you will see the screws and all the mounting holes. There is no front panel. Looks terrible on the wall. I don't understand why so many people agree with this.
