good but could be better

I bought this unit to take pictures from my camera's xD card because many newer laptops don't have a floppy disk drive that can use xD cards. This works great, but I wish you could insert the card without opening the entire drive where you can see all the internals. I wonder if this will shorten the "lifespan" of the device.
