At first I just tied a pen holder to the journal cover. It was working fine until I realized I could use this pen holder for two purposes. It can be a cool journal accessory that fits all my pens, stickers, scissors, etc. and can keep my always voluminous journal closed when not in use. I removed the original Velcro straps and replaced them with the longest strap and wrapped it completely around the journal leaving pens and accessories accessible from the front. I still take this pocket off for writing so the journal can lay flat. So there are three sizes: large, which I use, medium and small. I think this is necessary to make the book smaller. This is a great addition to any journaling experience. I love it and it holds a lot of weight. I have several sheets of stickers in it, 10 different colored pens and safety scissors in the bottom large pocket and it doesn't come off on its own or feel heavy. it is below. It keeps all my essentials securely in place.
