Excellent bit for the lock of the box

CMT Drawer Lock Bit 855.508.11 is an amazing bit at an amazing price. The bat arrived within two business days of my order. The cutter came in a small two-piece plastic box with instructions. I inspected the drill and found no damage to the cut surfaces or edges. Before I installed the racquet, I did quite a bit of research on racquet tuning. The rotary speed of the router, the height of the chisel and the depth of the fence were all I had to answer. Router speed was pretty straight forward. The bat is about 1 inch in diameter. Page 15 of the Bosch 1617EVS User Manual states that for "soft woods, plastics, countertops, smaller diameter cutters and cutters, dial setting 4, 5 or 6 should be used (20,000, 21,500 and 25,000 rpm respectively). . Since I wanted to use this on 5/8" Baltic Birch plywood to create boxes, I settled on a dial setting of 6 (25,000 RPM) to ensure a nice, clean cut. Be sure to check with your specific router bits. "Bitrates Guide. I came across a set of guides for setting bits on the Lee Valley Tools website. I used their drawer lock bit setting guide and adjusted them to match the bit height and stop depth to match the bit thickness. Tree for the box.The final setup turned out to be very similar to what management had suggested and aligning the center of the project blank with the center of the conical cutting profile on the bit.close to where I needed it I left ran a few test pieces with mahogany trim. the cuts were clean and as i didn't use a support block originally some tearing was to be expected. kind of baltic birch plywood as if it were the wall of a box. nice and clean, and using the Support blocks the cut was crisp I cut the drawer to match and checked the fit nice and snug with near perfect alignment Ic I made a few micro adjustments to the depth of the fence and cut the pieces to get successful results. I then used a piece of scrap oak to create a mounting block. Overall I am very happy with my CMT cutter and would happily buy this brand again. Thank you CMT!
