Review on Noctua NF A4X20 FLX Premium 40X20Mm by Deejay Allard

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Shouldn't they be quiet?

Maybe I was too harsh in my original review. I finally printed a mount where I could use the rubber mounts that came with the fan. Runs much quieter, even at full speed. I probably shouldn't have written a bad review after a failed install. However, it is far from quiet. It might be a little out of whack or something. I expected such an expensive fan not to have noticeable vibrations. It does come with some decent accessories though and if it lasts as long as they say it could be worth the price. I probably won't buy this particular fan again, but will most likely buy other Noctua hardware. The fan sounds like it has bad bearings, which is odd as it is advertised as having a lifespan 5 times longer than other fans - a deciding factor in my purchase. It makes a grinding/buzzing noise even with the most powerful low-noise adapter, just at a lower frequency. No wind noise, just rattles. It's louder than all three other non-Noctua fans in my 3D printer despite being hidden underneath. I can't even hear my computer next to it with its six fans. All of them are silent fans too, but cheaper ones that really work. I've bought many silent fans over the years but never spent more and was as disappointed as I was with this Noctua. It is positive that a lot of accessories were included. And a really chic box, which of course now ends up in the landfill. I'm pretty sure this fan is a fluke, but I won't be buying more to find out.
