I bought these for tea not candles so can't comment on how well they work for that but they are great for holding any patterns. I shop on impulse! They seal very well so I don't have to worry about freshness. The only downside is the lids are slightly rounded rather than flat so they don't like being stacked on top of each other and end up falling all over the place when I try to get one out of the cupboard so keep that in mind.
