I'm still not sure where the video is buffering but this device lets you pause live streaming instantly, no subscription or DVR setup required. Works on FireTV Gen2 and Android, not sure about other devices. On-air reception is a little worse than my TV receiver, but I assume that's because it's a dual tuner, meaning there must be a 50/50 splitter inside. This device requires an Ethernet connection to your router, but then you can stream to your devices via Wi-Fi routers. A paid DVR service isn't great for that. So if you need a DVR, I suggest just using it as a tuner, turning on the DVR, and then subscribing to the DVR through Plex. HDHomerun is better for watching live TV as the live TV interface is better and faster than trying to watch live through Plex, but Plex is way ahead of HDHomerun for the DVR interface. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone who watches over-the-air TV on multiple devices and wants to pause live streaming.
