One of Epson's claims with this product is that you can scan a stack of receipts and financial information is extracted and exported to Quickbooks. This is standard tech company crap designed to trick you into buying the product and blaming yourself for not setting it up properly long enough to get past the return window. If you scan documents and try to use this feature, it is very buggy because (obviously) it doesn't know which parts of receipts are key information. How could that be, if you think about it, if the entire industry didn't standardize on check layouts and Epson didn't keep a database of companies and their check types. If they use the latter method and your workflow involves a significant number of receipts from the same big stores, it might work for you. That being said, as a clerk with multiple clients, this thing was an improvement, but not everywhere. close to the promised level. Double-sided documents are scanned very quickly. It's quasi-portable, although uncomfortable moving it too often. At first I thought he chews checks like a twig hacker, but I quickly realized that like most specialist scanners, he's a hothouse orchid when it comes to staples or creases. If your document has ever been folded or stapled, good luck scanning as part of a batch. You have to enter it yourself. Also, the UI for processing/saving received scans is predictably terrible. Too many clicks and too few adjustments/automations are noticeable in the workflow. It takes too many clicks to switch between assembling a single multi-page PDF or individual pages. Even to save each scan, it takes at least 4 clicks to save the scan while the software makes it easy to just paste the files into the default folder. The built in scanner interface in MacOs is better for this in my opinion, but I'll have to uninstall the Epson app which is probably trying to sell my personal info all over the internet to see if that's an option. There are some scanning device settings that can help with document jam issues. Pros: duplex scanning which is very fast, so fast that it can get stuck more often than usual, seemingly capable in terms of file output capabilities (USB/flash drive/network) Cons: clunky UI, mostly in app and device screen , the touch screen-type is one of those slow, boring ones that register a lot of misdirected touches, rather than the responsive smartphone-type capacitive screens. In general, if you are an accountant I would say that you must try one of these types of scanners. Maybe this one, maybe not. If you've been using an app-based smartphone scanner or a one-page printer scanner, this upgrade will be worth it even if you're annoyed by the false marketing claims for at least the first year of use.
