These are required if you are wearing a Fitbit band with a metal clasp, original or not. These silicone snaps hold the band well so it doesn't slip or come loose. I was afraid that even the thinnest ones would make my Fitbit strap tighter and/or uncomfortable to wear in addition to the strap, but after wearing them for a few days I don't even know they're on. Yes, this creates an extra small step in addition to attaching the metal clasp to the strap, but I'd rather do that than lose a $100 device because the strap came loose. Simple, great product it!
