I've always had bad luck with automatic center punches for some strange reason. I had regular Chinese whatever. For some reason, after accurately and carefully placing the dot where I need it, it seems that when I want to use it, I press and the damn thing gets stuck. Jam, click, click and no click. I finally decided to stop fighting the cheap ones and get a good one once and for all. I have this Starrett, spent a few bucks but I think it's the last I'll ever buy. I open it and take a look. Click-Click---Click-Click-Click. Everything seems fine. Then I go use it and GUESS WHAT? JAM! You are joking. I pressed it and tried and tried. Yes, it works 90% of the time. but 1 time out of 10 I press it and it freezes. Bow! The fit and finish looks spectacular. This is really great work. Unfortunately I was unlucky and got a bad batch that sometimes sticks ***sigh*** So much on the subject of spending more and getting quality. It would be better to buy 10 cheap ones and keep the one that runs smoother. live and learn
