Smells just like Nair. Yes, depilatory cream. I noticed that there is some Chinese on the packaging as well, not Japanese, which is off-putting if it's genuine or if it's a Japanese import into China that managed to end up on Amazon. Other than that, I didn't have any weird reactions or breakthroughs when I started using it. I bought 2 to get my money's worth but by far the worst thing is the smell. The consistency is thick and creamy and you have to lather it under water to get an even application.
