Review on Niteangel Hamster Sand Bath Dust by Ashley Jones

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not for small dwarf hamsters No modifications

I bought this for my Campbell Russian dwarf hamster who loves sand. This is a very large sandbox and I filled it with 2 inches (about 3 pounds) of reptile sand. She is too small to get in or out unaided. I had to use a curved walkway to get into the sandpit and another hamster toy to help her climb onto part of the food bowl. She is still trying to get off the edge of the dining platform but trips and falls on her back. Hamsters are not very good climbers (they are good climbers with the exception of Chinese hamsters). I'm pretty sure this won't be a problem for a Syrian hamster, but Campbells, Winter Whites, or Robor Gnomes can have trouble getting in and out. The sandbox is very good. Well designed and made from durable materials. The bowl cannot be moved; There is a hole in the center of the platform that holds it in place. You can remove the bowl, but then a hole will remain. I think the design could have been improved if the bowl was on the side to allow enough room for a Niteangel water bottle and stand. Overall, I would recommend this sandbox for Syrian hamsters and larger hamsters. Can be tricky to use on small hamsters without mods to help them get in and out.
