Extremely weak fans

You can cool your laptop better by vigorously waving a single blade of grass in a general direction across the room. Literally anything cools better than something that literally doesn't cool. I hope I just snagged a lemon, but I'm not the first to complain about poor airflow - and I mean WEAK. Pros: - Fans seem to work - Supports laptop - Looks good? Cons: Actually, it's not cool at all. A pretty big problem for a product designed to cool laptops. The two tiny fans in my laptop are more powerful than all five combined. Let me give you the average of my tests. Without fans: GPU temperature = 86 degrees. With fans: GPU temp = 87 degrees. Yes. On average it got hotter but never colder. In the best-case scenario, it didn't do anything. It's not exactly what I would call effective. I used to use a very cheap shelf fan and point it at the back of my laptop while propping my laptop up while waiting for it to arrive. That alone lowered my temperature by five degrees. I expected this cooling pad to work better, but it turned out to be worse. I can barely feel the air coming out when I put my hand on it. It was so weak that I worried they wouldn't even spin at first. Yes, the fans are aligned with the vents on my laptop. I don't know under what circumstances and at what temperatures this would help any laptop, but if you need to cool your GPU while gaming or whatever, it won't help. This is the first one I've tried, so I don't know if other brands actually have fans that spin enough to actually move air molecules or not, but this one basically doesn't. As a bonus, it doesn't get enough power to run an external hard drive while the fans are running, so be careful not to corrupt your data. It wouldn't be a big deal if the fans actually did something useful.

Pros
  • Rugged surface
Cons
  • Damaged
