Review on πŸ”Œ ALIKSO Expansion Bracket with Adapter Controller Support by Scott Welch

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Adapter works with MacBook Pro A1708 and Sabrent 1TB Rocket Nano 2242

My system could no longer recognize the internal Apple SSD. I used this adapter to replace my internal Apple SSD with a generic NVMe SSD (Sabrent) and in the process upgraded to 1TB of storage (up from 256GB). So far everything is working great EXCEPT I can't restart my system. I CAN turn it off and on again (no problem), but I just can't restart it - the computer just shuts down when you try to restart the computer. I'm okay with this little issue because my computer is running again and I now have 1TB of RAM. Update: My understanding is that the reboot issue is with the Sabrent drive, not this adapter. With this adapter it is important to remember that the order of assembly is important. Step 1 - Assembling the SSD (Hard Disk Drive) with the NFHK Adapter (A1708). Step 2: Attach the SSD (drive) to the NFHK adapter (A1708) using the included stand/screw sleeve as shown in the Revain product image, ensuring the SSD (drive) is "captured" ( held in place) is on the rack/bolt protrusion. Step 3 - Plug the assembled adapter + SSD into the motherboard connector. [DO NOT insert the adapter into the motherboard before assembling the adapter with the SSD according to steps 1 and 2; Otherwise, you will not be able to "capture" (hold in place) the SSD.] Step 4 - Assemble the computer and use the bootable USB to install the operating system. Update: We recommend purchasing an SSD 2242 rather than the longer SSD 2280. Although this adapter is compatible with 2280 drives and there are more 2280 drive options, the 2280 drive is much longer than the 2242 drive and requires additional tape to fit to fix it to the system - it just won't be as safe and clean once it's installed. as drive 2242. Confirmed to work with my setup: MacBook Pro A1708 and Sabrent 1TB Rocket (Nano) NVMe PCIe M.2 2242 DRAM-Less Low Power Internal High Performance SSD (SB-1342-1TB), per except for the reboot above described problem. .
