I bought this scanner to digitize several boxes of old Kodachrome slides. I don't think this is the product to get the job done. In the end I returned it. If you just want to digitize slides without concern for image quality, this will work. But the quality is not very good as the scans are of very low resolution. Considering the price, this is good value for money. But the quality of the scan convinced me that I needed a better (more expensive) machine to do what I wanted with these slides. The software is cumbersome, but it can be used. I had several problems using the software. The automatic image brightness adjustment struggled to set the correct exposure when used, making the image appear flickering on screen. I had to take the photo multiple times to get a scanned image that wasn't completely washed out or too light. Not sure why he had this problem. If the image decides to lock exposure brightness at a high level, no manual adjustment in software will fix it. I had to delete the scan and start over. Good to know: The software/drivers for this device are only available on the supplied mini disk. You need a CD-ROM drive to use this device. If you have a netbook that doesn't have a CD drive like I do, this will be a problem. I borrowed an external drive from someone, but that's another problem that this product needs to overcome. Just for your information.
