I wanted a small Christmas tree for my kitchen. This is the perfect size. I placed it in a decorative red and white colander. The battery-operated lamps work with a timer and turn on automatically every day. They dim as the batteries age, but that's no big deal; I will not put in new batteries until they are completely dead. The flocking and sheen are a bit messy when you first take them out of the box. I made the mistake of opening it on my tablecloth which I had to take off and wash because of all the glitter and flocking. It doesn't shed much, although in the spot where it's in my kitchen. I'm very happy with it and I'm sure I'll enjoy it for many years to come.
