Review on πŸ’» High-Speed USB 3.0 Aluminum Enclosure for M.2 NGFF SSDs with UASP Support by Craig Rossman

Get the job done! best under hard disk accessories

This does its job perfectly and takes an M.2 hard disk up to size 2280 with a B+M key. The case itself is an aluminum alloy case, but the plastic structure inside does not come into contact with the outer aluminum alloy case, so heat is not dissipated directly, but indirectly allows some heat transfer to the outside, thus helping to cool. It all depends on what kind of M.2 hard drive you end up using. Some of them generate too much heat and may not be suitable for this case and may burn inside. Why three stars? - Well, first of all, the quality of the case isn't great, and it's a bit thicker than the regular M.2 SSD hard drive cases I've encountered in the past. It's not one you'd use to replace M.2 SSDs often on a daily basis, as if you tried this, the plastic tabs break easily on the second or third try even if you're careful. It's a very weak design in that regard. Second, the choice to use the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Micro interface, which is one of the worst USB 3.0 interface designs (not the manufacturer's fault). Sure, it's faster than USB 2.0 and also backward compatible with version 2.0 (you could just use a USB 2.0 cable), but the version 3.0 interface cable and connector is the worst design ever and subject to constant loose contacts. A manufacturer could easily choose to use a USB-C interface as a USB-C type connector, which has faster speeds, plus the cable/connector is reversible and fits well for a solid connection. Anyway, for the asking price I could give it four stars, but the use of plastic parts that can easily break and the aluminum alloy body that doesn't directly touch the M.2 SSD in any way makes the aluminum alloy body attractive rather a design example. On the plus side, the M.2 SSD is recognized by the computer and I can read and write files from the orphaned M.2 SSD at the fastest speed that USB 3.0 can offer. Overall, it deserves three stars!
