I have other HDMI scan converters, but this is the best. I have been archiving old tapes. My television doesn’t have A/V inputs, so I was using an inexpensive scan converter with OK results. This one has noticeably better quality, with good color rendition and a cleaner looking image. The device comes with all necessary cables, including a wall power supply. It has switches to choose aspect ratio and resolution. I leave the aspect ratio switch on 4:3 (my other scan converter doesn’t have this feature). The resolution can be switched between 720P and 1080P. I saw no reason to boost to 1080P so I’m leaving it on 720P and am satisfied with the results. The scan converter also acts as a recorder, which it does well. Connect a USB thumb drive, press the button on top, and it will record video as MP4 video files. It breaks the video up into roughly 17 minute chunks, each a bit over 2 GB. Quality looks decent, certainly good enough for my archiving purposes. I’m really pleased with this - the viewing quality is surprisingly good, the mpeg-4 files look decent and it is very easy to use.
