I have been using this remote thermometer extensively and to my complete satisfaction for almost a year and have just replaced the batteries in the transmitter (always left out). I didn't have to use the receiver more than 50ft, but other reviews might say so. It's very similar to meat thermometers and turkey pop-ups, but the placement differences make calibrating both gauges difficult. Last week one of the two detachable probes failed (they fail in my grilling environment) and I replaced it with the spare that came with it. I was pleasantly surprised after contacting the seller about purchasing additional sensors and instead he sent me several full products (returns) and gave me - hopefully - a lifetime supply of sensors and spares!
